Google launches 3 Chromebooks with cloud gaming functionality: Best in 2022

Google announced that beginning in October of this year, interested customers will be able to order the new Acer Chromebook 516 GE, the ASUS Chromebook Vibe CX55 Flip, and the Lenovo Ideapad Gaming Chromebook.

What makes Google Chromebooks special?

Google launches 3 Chromebooks: Three Chromebook models explicitly made for cloud gaming were released by Google today. These Google Chromebook models are being offered thanks to a collaboration between the firm and Acer, Asus, and Lenovo. Additionally, the business announced that it has teamed up with Nvidia to support GeForce Now’s highest-performance RTX 3080 tier on Chromebooks for cloud gaming. The company believes this will allow users to stream games like Fortnite, Cyberpunk 2077, and Crysis 3 Remastered at a resolution of up to 1600 pixels and a screen refresh rate of 120Hz.

Google and Microsoft collaboration

Google and Microsoft collaborated to make installable web software that will bring Xbox Cloud Gaming to Chromebooks in beta mode. You can download and utilize this app by going to xbox.com/play. Forza Horizon 5, Grounded, and Microsoft Flight Simulator are just a few of the hundreds of titles available on Xbox that can be accessed with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership, according to a blog post by Google.

Users of Chromebooks will be able to support three cloud gaming systems, including the beta versions of Xbox Cloud Gaming, Nvidia GeForce Now, and Amazon Luna thanks to these collaborations and others. When purchasing these Chromebooks, buyers will receive a free three-month trial of Amazon Luna+ and the RTX3080 tier of Nvidia’s GeForce NOW. The business continued, “With these deals, you can play roughly 200 of the 1500+ games that are free to download on Chromebooks, including games like Control Ultimate Edition, Overcooked 2, Fortnite, and League of Legends.”

Acer Chromebook 516 GE specifications

The 16-inch WQXGA display of the Acer Chromebook 516 GE has a 2560 x 1500 pixel resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. It is equipped with an Intel Core i5+ processor from the 12th generation, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of SSD storage. In addition to 22 Intel Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 for connectivity, it offers DTS audio, quad force vibration cancellation stereo, and a stereo audio system. A 65Wh battery powers it.

Asus Chromebook Vibe CX55 Flip specifications

The 15.6-inch Full HD IPS touchscreen display on the Asus Chromebook Vibe CX55 Flip has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. It is powered by an i3, i5, or i7 11th-generation Intel Core processor. It will come in RAM configurations of 8GB and 16GB and storage configurations of 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB SSD. A 57Wh battery powers it. It boasts two certified Harman Kardon speakers for audio and two Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5 connections for communication.

Lenovo Ideapad Gaming Chromebook specifications

The 16-inch WQXGA display on the Lenovo Ideapad Gaming Chromebook has a resolution of 2560 x 1500 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. It is powered by an Intel Core i3 or i5 processor from the 12th generation, together with 8GB of RAM. It will come with a 128GB eMMC storage option in addition to 256GB and 512GB SSD storage options. A 71Wh battery powers it. Waves Audio is used in its four 2W speakers, which are connected by 22 Intel Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.
