Last week had attended a blogger’s meet organized by DuPont Nutrition & Health where we were informed about the importance of protein in our diet and how Soy protein plays an important role.
Is soy healthy?
This is one of the biggest questions in everyone’s mind, whether Soy is healthy for us or not? the answer is yes since Soy protein has been proven to be a very beneficial addition to any diet because of the positive effect it has on the human body. Soy is an excellent plant-based complete protein source that also provides nutrients like folate and potassium. There has been Research conducted that shows the cholesterol-lowering effects of soy protein, even a mere 25 grams a day may reduce the risk of heart disease.
Soy, a Substitute for Meat Protein
Soy protein is a possible substitution for the protein which we normally gained by eating meats. While meat is associated normally with fat content, soy protein is not. Also, soy protein contains all the amino acids generally gained from eating meat, which is an important part of maintaining healthy muscles and reducing fat. These amino acids are also an essential part of insulin production in the body.

Amino acids which are found in soy protein products, such as tofu and soy milk, and other foods that enter the body are able to be processed and used more effectively for energy. There are numbers of Amino Acids which are only obtained from food sources contained in Soy Protein, which allows us to get the complete benefits from other foods.

It is also to be believed that soy protein can help in reducing various health-related risks, a few of which are even very serious. Soy protein aids in reducing the risk of getting prostate cancer, colon cancer, and even osteoporosis.
It is not quite a hard task to add soy protein to your regular diet. Switching over to soy milk in the morning with your coffee or even cereal is good to start with. There are many soy-based products that are easily available in your local grocery store including soy milk, supplements, tofu, and other substitutions for what you may normally eat.
